I have been doing black and white photography for over 40 years. During the film days, I attended the Maine Photography and John Sexton workshops, learning the craft of black and white film development and darkroom techniques. I still enjoy medium format film photography, both black and white and color (the new films are better than ever), but all development is now digitized. These days, like everybody, I do more digital photography, because it is so much quicker and easier.
I attended Miami University, and was editor in chief of the Miami Student, graduating in 1971. My first career was as a newspaper reporter for the Middletown Journal and New Haven Register. I worked as press and legislative aide for Senator Howard Metzenbaum (D-Ohio) from 1977-84. At that time, I bootstrapped a hotel reservations business in Washington, D.C., which I operated for almost 20 years. I now live with my wonderful wife Marshall, married over 32 years, on beautiful Whidbey Island.
